J&K boys thrash Jharkhand in opening tie

JAMMU, Apr 20: J&K boys team defeated Jharkhand in opening match of 43rd Junior National Volleyball Championship played at Paravoor Ernakulam in Kerala.
In the championship, J&K boys team is placed in Pool-D and will play next matches against Gujarat, Karela, Chhattisgarh and Manipur at the group stage.
In the opening match with the superb performance by Mohd Latif, Sourab Sharma and Farhad Jahangir, J&K team defeated Jharkhand by 3-2 sets (25-13, 19-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-11).
Meanwhile, in girls section, J&K team lost to Odisha in opening match by straight 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-18) sets.
Anant Bhaya, Menu Devi and Ridhma showed some beautiful skills but failed to save J&K from defeat.
State girls team has been placed in Pool-A and will play next matches against Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh.
The teams are being accompanied by Ravinder Kour, Prince Mehta, Mohd Tariq, Azhar Aziz, Ajay Kumar and Rahul Kumar as officials.
President Volleyball Association of J and K, Sidharth Daluja and other office bearers sent their good wishes to J and K boys team, manager and coach for excellent performance in the opening match.
They also wished the boys and girls team for better performance in subsequent matches.
