Mendhar Shahidi Diwas Kabaddi tourney begins

JAMMU, Apr 23: In the run up to the Mendhar Shahidi Diwas which is celebrated every year in April, a Kabaddi tournament was organized by the Army under the aegis of Ace of Spades Division.
The tournament named the Mendhar Shahidi Diwas Kabaddi Tournament is being organised from April 22 to 25 at the OP Hill Stadium, Mendhar, with an aim to reach out to the youth of Mendhar and to commemorate the martyrdom of the brave citizens of Mendhar Tehsil, who laid down their lives supporting the Army during the 1965 Indo – Pak War.
The tournament got underway in the presence of Army officials, SDPO Mendhar, civil dignitaries, school children and a large number of local youths. The event has received an overwhelming response from the youth of Mendhar and adjoining areas, with a total of 8 teams comprising 80 players participating in the event. The tournament will be played on a knock out basis culminating with the final on Apr 25, 17, coinciding with a Know Your Army Mela, at the OP Hill Stadium.
