Inter school football tourney gets underway

JAMMU, Apr 26: Inter-School Football (under-17) Tournament of Purmandal zone was thrown open today in the premises of St Mary’s Convent High School, Smailpur in Samba.
The tournament is organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the chairmanship of DYSSO Samba, Sunil Kumar and overall supervision of Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO) Purmandal Harsh Keshka.
During the opening ceremony Principal of the St Mary’s Convent High School, Smailpur, Sister Lucy was the chief guest who after brief introduction with the players thrown open the tournament. Speaking on the occasion Sister Lucy stressed upon the students to actively participate in the sports activities as it is good for mental as well as physical growth of the students.
The inaugural match was played between St Mary’s Convent High School Smailpur and Star Intellectual School, wherein, St Mary’s Convent High School registered win defeating the other team by 2-0.
Those present on the occasion congratulated the winning team. Physical lecturer Ravi Kumar, Hardeep Singh, Bachan Lal, Arun Kumar and members of the organizing committee were present on the occasion. The matches were officiated by Sanjay Kotwal, Raju Sharma, Sahil Slathia and Vivek Slathia.
