Presentation Convent, St. Peters girls win Handball titles

JAMMU, May 12: Presentation Convent (PC) and St. Peters BC Road clinched girls under-14 and under-17Handball titles in the ongoing inter-school district level competitions of Jammu district, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today.

In under-17 category, St. Peters trounced St. Francis Higher Secondary School Akhnoor 8-1 whereas PC also defeated the same opponent in St. Francis Akhnoor 7-1 in the final.

Meanwhile, the girls' under-14 Softball title went to Carmal Convent School, who beat Government Higher Secondary School Canal Road, here 8-3. Earlier, the competition was declared open by District Officer, Sukhdev Raj in the presence of Jeet Singh and Sarita Pandha (ZPEOs).

The details: BASKETBALL: UNDER-17: Army Public School Kaluchack blanked MIER 15-0; Jodhmal beat Carmel Convent 10-03; MHAC Nagbani beat APS Miran Sahib 14-02; APS Ratnuchak beat JK Public School 10-08. UNDER-14: APS Sunjwan beat MACH Nagbani 12-00; Heritage Public School beat APS Kaluchack 08-0; Carmel Convent beat SOS 02-0; JK Public beat Jodhamal 09-08.

FOOTBALL: BOYS: UNDER-14: Delhi Public School beat SOS via tie breaker 3-1; Heritage School beat Jodhamal 1-0; JK Public School beat APS Kaluchack 1-0. UNDER-17: DPS beat GD Goneka via tie breaker 3-2; JK Public School beat Heritage 1-0; MHAC Nagbani beat APS Ratnuchack 1-0. SOFTBALL: UNDER-14: Semifinals: Girls HSS Canal Road beat HSS Paloura 04-03; Carmel Convent beat Wazir Jankinath 09-02. Preliminary Round: Girls HSS Canal Road beat MS Gadi Garh 06-02; Wazir Jankinath School beat GHS Rehari 08-02.

BSF jawan, civilian injured in Pak firing
