APS Miran Sahib boys win U-17 Hockey title

JAMMU, May 24: Army Public School (APS) Miran Sahib boys and SOS School girls won the under-17 hockey titles in the ongoing inter-zonal district level competitions of Jammu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in under-17 final, APS Miran Sahib defeated SOS School 4-2 via tie-breaker. Later, in under-17 girls' title clash, SOS School trounced Presentation Convent (PC) by two goals to nil. The matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Harvinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Ravinder.
CRICKET: Meanwhile, in inter-zonal boys under-14 and under-17 cricket events, Satwari zone won their matches. In under-14 category, Satwari zone defeated Jammu zone by 18 runs. Batting first, Satwari zone made 92 runs for two wickets in 12 overs. Dhrub and Aditya played fine innings of 28 and 23 runs respectively. From Jammu zone, Akshit took one wicket. In reply, Jammu zone could make 74 runs for four wickets in 12 overs. Akshit remained top scorer with 27 while Arrn contributed 18. Kanna took two wickets from Satwari zone. Similarly, in under-17 boys match, played at GHS Jammu Cantonment, Satwari Zone beat Jammu Zone by three wickets. Batting first, Jammu scored 89 runs losing four wickets in 12 overs. Masaif and Yuvraj contributed 35 and 24 runs respectively. From Satwari, Aditya secured two wickets. Batting second, Satwari zone chased the total making 92 runs for seven wickets in 11.2 overs. Vinayak (16), Himmal (13) and Aditya (12) were main contributors. Praful clinched two wickets while Tandan bagged one from Jammu zone. The matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Anju Gupta, Jasbir Singh, Saleem-ul rehman, Jagtar, Satika, farooq, Madan Mohan, Mukesh, Sadiq Hussain, Anil Sharma, Sunil, Rajesh and Suresh Singh.
