Gopi of Punjab lifts Mari Kambal Danga title

JAMMU, May 24: Wrestler Gopi of Ludhiana in Punjab lifted the 54th Annual Mari Kambal Danga title beating wrestler Tejveer of Rohtak in Haryana in the main bout at Kambal Danga in district Reasi.
This dangal was organized by Jai Peer Baba Dangal Committee, Mari Kambal Danga (Reasi) in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the supervision of Shiv Kumar Sharma, president of the Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and advocate Pawan Dev Singh.
District Development Commissioner Reasi, Ravinder Kumar was chief guest, who distributed cash prizes among winners.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Reasi, Babu Ram, Additional SP, Sanjay Rana, Tehsildar Reasi, Rajesh Kumar, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Dr Swarn Singh Chib and social activists, Ram Paul Sharma were guests of honour.
Those who were present included Assistant Manager HR NHPC RS Prabhkar, Advocate Pawan Dev Singh, SHO Reasi Jasbir Singh, Murad Ali, Rattan Singh and Deepak Wazir. In all, 88 bouts were played in the one day long dangal. Gopi was awarded with cash prize of Rs 25,000 while runners-up got Rs 20,000.
Members and technical officials who helped for the conduct of this wrestling event included Sarpanch Maheshwar Singh, Dalip Singh (chairman), Balbir Singh, Jasbir Singh, Pawan Singh, Deepak Wazir, Dheeraj Kumar Kesar and Murli Dhar (Munna).
