Search operations in Pulwama end

SRINAGAR, May 24: Search operation launched by the security forces in south Kashmir ended early this morning as militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness, official sources said here.
They said with the first light this morning, the security forces resumed search operation in village Hakripora Kakpora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
However, the operation was called off at 5.30 AM s as the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The operation was launched last night following a tip-off about the presence of militants in the village.
There was a brief encounter between the militants hiding in the village and security forces.
However, the operation was stopped due to darkness to avoid any casualty, the sources said. Security forces had sealed the entire area after reinforcement was rushed there from nearby camps.
However, the militants managed to escape. No arrests were made, they added.
