Sangakkara should have equalled our record but not surpass Bradman's feat: Mike Procter

DUBAI,(UAE), May 28: Former South African lower-order right-handed batsman (also the right-arm pace bowler) Mike Procter is on his way to England and keen to catch Kumar Sangakkara, who has scored five consecutive hundreds in the First Class cricket.
Sri Lanka's former captain Sanga is the eighth international batsman to have achieved this feat but the world record of six consecutive hundreds remain in the names of Australia's Don Bradman, C.B.Fry (England) and Mike Procter. It was Sanga's 61st First Class hundred and 99 in all forms of the game.
"I will be at Lord's on Monday and if get an opportunity to interact with Sanga, will tell him to continue to play one more season", the 70-year-old Procter, speaking exclusively minutes before boarding a flight, said from Durban.
"I know Sanga very well and also know that he has announced his retirement from the game. I am also aware that his decision to retire from the First Class cricket will not be changed".
"But yes, I would have loved him to equal our record (of six tons) before his stint with Surrey is over but not break the record".
"This record of scoring six successive hundreds is also in the name of Bradman and I don't like Bradman record be broken. It is not fair to break Bradman's record".
"Sanga is a fantastic player and scoring five hundreds consecutively is indeed remarkable", Procter, who played 7 Tests and over 400 First Class matches, added.
The other batsmen who have also registered five successive hundreds are : Everton Weeks and Brian Lara (both West Indies), Michael Hussey (Australia) and India's Parthiv Patel.
"The only players who can break our record are India captain Virat Kohli and South Africa's AB de villiers. But Kohli is a real threat", he concluded.
