ATM stolen
Militants attack army convoy at Bijbehara

SRINAGAR, Jun 18: Militants attacked an army convoy at Bijbehara on Srinagar-Jammu national highway today. The security forces returned the fire. However, there was no casualty in the incident.

The militants fired some shots at the army vehicles in Bijbehara area and fled from the spot, a police official said.

Reinforcement of security forces was rushed to the affected area. Security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation was conducted.

Militants had yesterday attacked a CRPF and an army camp at Bijbehara yesterday. The security forces had returned the fire. Police had denied the reports of attack.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons decamped with an automated teller machine (ATM) of State Bank of India (SBI) in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

They broke open the ATM at Zirpora in the Bijbehara area of the district last night, said a police official.

They made off with the machine, he said, adding that the amount of cash in it was not immediately known.

A case was registered in this regard and further investigations were on, said the police official.
