JAMMU, Jun 18: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, hosted an Iftar here this evening.

Around 1000 guests representing different walks of life attended the Iftar.

Speaker Kavinder Gupta; vice president, PDP, Mohammed Sartaj Madni; GoC, 16 Corps; officers of civil administration and police, besides members of the media fraternity and prominent citizens and members of civil society attended the Iftar.

As the dusk set in, the participants broke their fast with dates and juices at the lawns of the Chief Minister’s residence after offering prayers.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with the guests and wished them well.

A special attraction of the Iftar this year was the presence of the youth from Jammu who had qualified this year’s civil services examination. The Chief Minister gave them her blessings and wished them luck in their career ahead.

Special arrangements were made for the invitees, males and females, to offer Magrib prayers.

Responding to a question pertaining to the conspicuous absence of leaders including the legislators from opposition parties mainly National Conference and Congress, Madni stated that the Chief Minister would be hosting `Iftar' for legislators and other prominent leaders (from the opposition), majority of whom were in Srinagar, on June 21 in the summer capital.

"Today she hosted Iftar for prominent citrizens of Jammu, media persons and other dignitaries," he said.
