MUMBAI, July 14: Apparently Graham Ford, in his house in Durban (South Africa) has been watching on TV the recent matches being played by the Sri Lankan team against the Zimbabweans. He will also watch the performance of the Sri Lankan players during India's tour of the Island commencing later this month.
Speaking exclusively to this Reporter first time after returning from Sri Lanka, the ex-coach says, "I can say yes, I do follow Sri Lanka cricket very closely".
Ford had reportedly relinquished his job as Head Coach before the expiry of his contract owing to the difference of opinion with the SLC management. Though Ford has played only seven First Class matches in his home-country, the 56-year-old Ford is considered to be the better coach and had one more stint with the Sri Lankan players.
Ford still has strong desire to be associated with any team as a coach. "Yes, I still have definitely a burning desire to coach at a high level, whether that is at international level, first class level, or franchise level, I don't mind but would like to use what I have learned to hopefully assist some promising players", he added.
Ford has coached the South African A team and Kent and Surrey counties. He was also offered India coach post but had declined citing family reasons.
He may have changed his mind and who knows if he is hired by any IPL team in India.
