Volleyball Referee Clinic inaugurated
JAMMU, Jul 15: Three-day Volleyball Referee Clinic-cum-Refresher Course inaugurated at MA Stadium, here on Saturday.

Organized by Volleyball Association of J&K first of its kind in the State in which over 50 PETs, PEMs and Physical Education Lecturers serving in Department of Youth Services and Sports/students of B.PEd/ M.PEd/ senior volleyball players of the State are undergoing the course.

Sukh Dev Singh, Assistant Director from Department of Youth Services Sports, speaking on behalf of the deptt, hailed the activity of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) for taking in hand the course for updating the skills of the participants for smooth conduct of various championships as per latest rules and of VFI which is the apex body for conducting various national and international volleyball championships.

Singh also appreciated Sidharth Daluja, President of Volleyball Association of J&K and his office bearers for this bold step owning the responsibility of the goal in channelizing the energies of participants inculcating thereof competitiveness skills as per standard norms.

Earlier welcoming the participants, Vijay K. Magotra, General Secretary of Volleyball Association of J&K gave a brief account of the course and introduced Rameshwar Singh Chowan an international volleyball referee who is special invitee of VFI as technical expert.

Chowan who hails from Himachal Pradesh, has also qualified referee test held at Jammu in 1995 during 44th senior National Volleyball Championship.

Chowan has passed international referee course from Bahrian. Besides Chowan has also participated in Youth Asian Championship held at Tehran, 2009 Jammu World Championship, South Asian Game Guhati, World Cup Qualification Tournament China and Asia Cup at Kazakihstan.

Magotra called upon the participants to avail the expertise benefits both physical and mental to sharpen their reflexes in theory/ practical sessions. He thanked J&K State Sports Council for extending their cooperative infrastructural support.

Kuldip Magotra CEO clarified the queries of the participants in detailed including female participants and assured eligibilities of their participation in State/ National/ International Championships in near future.
