Mehbooba, Farooq meet was in context of Art 370, 35-A: Naeem

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Following the row over Article 35-A and the meeting of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti with NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah, the government today said attempts regarding abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A must be prevented.
Government spokesman and minister for public works, Naeem Akhtar told KNS that chief minister met the NC president, who is the most senior politician, to discuss the general situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially Articles in the context of 370 and 35-A.
“Article 370 and Article 35-A are the foundation of our relation with rest of the country. Strengthening them is in the interest of the state and the country,” Akhtar told KNS.
“We should prevent any attempt at abrogation of these articles. We must rise above party politics to safeguard the interests of the state,” he said.
Asked whether other political parties will be consulted, Akhtar said there should be consultations will all. “That (consultations) is part of the democracy.”
