Govt employees, students protest against killing of Rohingyas

SRINAGAR, Sep 7: The government employees and students today hit the streets to protest the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Northern Rakhine state of Myanmar.
Carrying banners and placards reading “Islam Zindabad and stop killing Rohingya Muslims” dozens of the government employees this afternoon under the banner of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Kashmir appeared at Press Enclave and staged demonstrations to protest killing of Rohingyas by Buddhist radicals.
Protesting employees accused the Myanmar government of carrying out genocide of Muslims under a well planned conspiracy.
They said thousands of innocent Muslims including, children and women are continued to be murdered by Buddhist terrorists with impunity.
“We condemn in strong words brutal killing of Myanmar Muslims and wants world community to take serious note of the human rights violation by Myanmar army and radical Buddhists. These killing should be immediately stopped else an inexorable wave of revolt against Muslim killings will be difficult to digest,” said Aijaz Ahmad, President EJAC Kashmir.
Police also foiled United Nations March of Tourism contractual employees against Myanmar killings with over a dozen among them were bundled to Ram Munshi Bagh police station.
Shouting anti-Buddhists and pro-Islamic slogans, dozens of contractual employees of Tourism department took out a protest march from Tourist Reception Center (TRC) to UN office at Sonwar.
Before the protesters could submit their memorandum to UN officials, contingents of police deployed in advance swung into action and charged batons on them.
Around a dozen employees were bundled in already awaiting police vehicles and detained at Ram Munshibagh police station.
Meanwhile, a group of students from Government Women’s College also hit streets to protest the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
Amid pro Islamic slogans, students took out a protest rally from Women’s College to Lal Chowk against killings of poor Rohingya Muslims.
“Our brothers and sisters are being brutally killed by Buddhist terrorists but the world community including Muslim countries is watching the persecution of poor innocent Muslims as mute spectators,” a student said.
