Use of pellet guns alleged in Tral, police refutes

According to officials while scores of injured were shifted to Srinagar hospitals for the treatment. Hospital officials at district hospital Tral said that several persons had received pellet injuries also.
However, police denied that anybody was injured in pellet firing. “Terming the use of pellets as reported in by some social media as totally baseless, SP Awantipora Zahid Malik said that no pellet was fired, however some shots were fired in air to prevent any further attack. He said the security forces showed maximum restraint during the incident,” a police spokesman in a statement said.
According to the officials at SMHS hospital here in Srinagar, over a dozen injured persons were brought to the hospital for treatment. The doctors revealed that the injured which included few women also, were suffering firearm injuries. They said some persons had suffered minor pellet injuries also.
"Over a dozen injured persons reported at the hospital today. Some have received grievous firearm injuries and are being given the required treatment. The injured persons with minor injuries have been discharged," a doctor at SMHS hospital said.
The hospital sources in district hospital Tral revealed that over two dozen injured persons were reported in the hospital on Thursday. The medicos revealed that the persons with severe injuries were referred to SMHS and SKIMS Srinagar for further treatment.
"The hospital received nearly around 27 injured persons. Scores of injured had suffered minor pellet injuries. Those with minor injuries are being treated at the hospital however the persons with serious bullet injuries were shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar," hospital authorities at district hospital Tral said.
According to the eye witnesses the security forces fired pellets to disperse the crowd near the place where grenade explosion had occurred.
