32 flats for Move employees inaugurated

JAMMU, Oct 11: Terming youth as her priority, the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today said she intends to extend all such avenues to youth of the state which are available to their counterparts in other states of the country.
As a part of her other public engagement of the day, the Chief Minister also inaugurated 32 flats for the Darbar Move employees at Sarwal. Built on modern architectural pattern, the 2-BHK flats were constructed in a record time of around one year at a cost of Rs. 6.98 Cr.
Launching the Jammu station of a prominent FM radio network here today, the Chief Minister said sports and cultural activities, which generally attracted attention of the youth, were accorded priority by her government.
During the launch, the Chief Minister interacted with many listeners of the radio network and answered their queries on wide ranging subjects.
On the recently released video, Kashmir-The Warmest Place on Earth, the Chief Minister said it was a unique way of explaining the hospitality and loving nature of the people of Kashmir. She said the need arose due to some negative campaign launched by certain media splits about the place and its people.
Mehbooba said sports stadia at Srinagar and Jammu were being upgraded to international standards besides extending sports infrastructure to village areas. She said she already released funds for creating facilities at stadia to play matches during night hours as was being done at other big cities.
The Chief Minister hoped the new FM station would focus on some urgent issues confronting youth like drug addiction, unemployment and other social issues. She hoped the new FM station would also act as a platform for discovering the hidden talent among youth of the state.
Yesterday, it may be recalled, the Chief Minister had launched another FM radio station in the city.
While laying the foundation of a new block of 28 flats which would also be built in a year’s time and would cost Rs four Cr.
The construction of these flats would address the accommodation needs of the move employees by a great measure.
Mehbooba went round the newly constructed flats and took stock of the facilities put in place. She expressed satisfaction over the completion of these flats in the stipulated time schedule. She directed that the same timeline be maintained in the next phase of constructions as well.
Interacting with the employees on the occasion, the Chief Minister said her government was committed to provide all facilities to the employees to ensure a better working atmosphere for them so that they give their best to the state.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, M K Bhandari; IGP Jammu zone, SDS Jamwal; Director, Estates Department, Tassaduq Jeelani; other senior officers; president, Civil Secretariat Non Gazetted Employees Union, Ghulam Rasool Mir and a large number of employees were present on the occasion.
