Supply of ammunition to militants; 2 cops, OGW arrested
ESS AHMAD
ANANTNAG, Oct 11: Shopian police has arrested two policemen and an overground worker of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit for allegedly supplying ammunition to the militants.

The revelations about the cops supplying ammunition to militants came to the fore after the police on October 9 (Monday) apprehended a youth Adil Ahmad Nengroo near Circuit House Shopian who was suspiciously roaming in the area.

From his possession, police officials said, around 40 bullets of AK-47 were recovered and he was subsequently put to interrogation.

SP Shopian, A S Dinkar said that on being interrogated the youth revealed that he and his other friend were working as over ground workers (OGWs) for two local Hizb militants.

"Besides he also revealed that he had received the ammunition from a police man Shabir Ahmad Malik, a resident of Amshipora Shopian," the SP told Kashmir Times.

He said that on the revelations of OGW the police man was arrested who on interrogation revealed the name of another cop, Nazir Ahmad Najar of Kulgam from whom he had received the ammunition. "Nazir was also arrested and both the cops are being interrogated as part of investigation," SP said.

Malik, he said, is posted in Ganderbal and Najar at DPL Shopian.

The top cop of the district said that they are investigating whether the cops had supplied the ammunition to militants for the first time or they were doing it before as well.
