Minor girl injured in Pak firing in Karmara

POONCH, Oct 31: A minor girl was injured on Tuesday when Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing targetting forward Indian border posts and the civilian population in at least 4 villages on the LoC in Karmara sector of Poonch district.
“Pak army resorted to heavy firing using small arms, automatics and mortars this morning at around 11.10 AM in Karmara sector along the Line of Control (LoC) deliberately targetting the civilian population in villages of Khari, Karmara, Kassalian and Ajote besides Indian forward border posts. A minor girl identified as Gulnaaz Akhter daughter of Mohammed Aziz resident of Karmara sustained injuries in Pak firing. She was immediately rushed to hospital where her condition is stable,” official sources said.
After initial restraint, Indian side too retaliated in equal measure. “Besides injuries to this minor girl, there was no loss of life or property in firing by Pakistani army,” sources said. The exchange of fire between two sides continued till 3.25 PM.
Earlier on October 26 night, after a lull for a week or so, Pakistan had shelled Indian forward posts and the civilian population in 5 villages on the Line of Control (LoC) in Shahpur-Kerni sector of Poonch district.
The villages affected included Qasba, Gultrian, Kerni, Shahpur and Bandi Chechian.
