Sainik school wins Sahodaya Athletic Championship

JAMMU, Nov 8: Sainik School Nagrota bagged the much coveted Championship Trophy (Boys) in the Jammu Sahodaya Athletic Meet hosted by the school from November 6 to 8.
Twenty schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region participated in the Athletic Meet. Devender Singh Rana, MLA, Nagrota presided over the Closing Day function as the Chief Guest and gave away medals and trophies to the winners. Athletes in both boys and girls categories sweated it out in the track and field events to improve their schools’ overall points tally.
Sainik School topped the medal tally at the end of the final day’s events with 116 points and in boys’ category and MHACS, Nagbani came second with 81 points. Cadet Jagbir Singh of Sainik School Nagrota broke the 100m record with 11.12 seconds.
Randeep Singh of MHACS Nagbani was adjudged as the best Athlete in boys’ category. In the girls’ category MHACS, Nagbani lifted the Championship Trophy (Girls) with 69 points while SOS Herman School stood runner-up with 49 points. Sapna Sharma of MHACS, Nagbani won the best athlete trophy in Girls category.
Addressing the contingents, the Chief Guest Devender Singh Rana applauded the competitive spirit displayed by the athletes in the sports field under the umbrella of Sahodaya Schools. He was also profoundly impressed by the excellent display of Sainik School Nagrota school Band.
Captain (IN) A Muthuraman, Principal expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion and commended the superlative performance of students in all events. He also appreciated teachers, officials and students of the participating teams and the staff of the school for making the Athletic Meet a grand success. JS Dhami, President, Sahodaya and Principals of elite CBSE schools including Doon International School and DBN Amarvilla were present on the occasion.
