2 killed, 25 injured as bus falls into gorge in Udhampur

UDHMAPUR, Nov 14: Two persons were killed and twenty-five others were injured when a rashly driven bus skidded off the road and rolled down a gorge near village Jandrore in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district this evening.

Official reports said that ill-fated bus bearing registration number no JK02T1857 was on its way from Ramnagar to Gordi when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell down 200 feet deep gorge, an officer said. The driver and conductor managed to flee from the spot.

The locals joined by the police rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation. All the injured were rushed to the Sub District Hospital Ramnagar.

However out of 27 injured passengers, two passengers identified as Pushpa Devi, 70, wife of Purkha Singh resident of Jandrore and Sukh Ram, 74, son of Fisro Ram resident of Birnoo died at Udhampur District Hospital where they were evacuated from the Sub District Hospital Ramnagar, given their critical condition.

The injured have been identified as Shankri Devi, 72, wife of Ambo resident of Surni, Rakesh Kumar, 18, son of Om Prakash resident of Nalla Mallian, Vinod Kumar, 12, son of Shankro Ram resident of Nalla Mallian, Rekha Rani, 20, daughter of Om Prakash resident of Nalla Mallian, Pooja Devi, 22, wife of Rajinder Singh, Shoba Devi, 16, daughter of Thakur Dass resident of Nalla Mallian, Rahul, 14, son of Kaku Ram resident of Nalla Mallian, Usha Devi, 15, daughter of Kikro resident of Nalla Mallian, Bandana, 21, daughter of Bodh Raj resident of Prey, Shivani Devi, 11, daughter of Mohan Lal resident of Birnoo, Kalsh Devi, 45, wife of Mohan Lal resident of Birnoo, Shakuntla Devi, 45, wife of Suram Chand, resident of Sullan , Mohan Lal, 49, son of Chalro Ram resident of Birnoo, Ram Paul, 25, son of Om Prakash resident of Suri, Naresh Kumar, 19, son of Ravi Kumar resident of Prey, Kuldeep Kumar, 42, son of Krich Chand resident of Jandrore, Ranjit Singh, 20, son of Karnail Singh resident of Rassain, Kaushalya Devi, 66, wife of Dev Raj resident of Prey, Hem Raj, 68, son of Chandu Ram resident of Jandrore, Usha Devi, 25, wife of Subhash Chander resident of Sullan, Santosh Kumari, 52, wife of Yashwant Singh resident of Nalla Mallian, Prem Nath 45, son of Rolo Ram resident of Surni, Prem Chand, 24, son of Gopi resident of Nalla Mallian, Vijay Kumar, 34, son of Hukam Chand resident of Nalla Mallian and Ajit Kumar, 40, son of Gian Chand resident of Dalsar.

Later Shankri Devi, Rakesh Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Rahul, Hem Raj, Prem Nath and Ajit Kumar were also referred from Sub District Hospital Ramnagar to District Hospital Udhampur for advanced treatment.
