Jammu-Sringar NH1A, Mughal Road open

SRINAGAR, Nov 29: Traffic on the national highway, connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir, was resumed after remaining suspended this morning following fresh snowfall last night.
However, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway and historic Mughal Road are through for traffic, a traffic police official said.
He said there was fresh snowfall at Zojila and Meenamarg on the 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway.
Traffic was suspended as a precautionary measure to avoid any accident as the road had become slippery this morning. Later, traffic was resumed following improvement in the weather and road condition.
However, he said, since only one-way traffic is allowed between Sonamarg-Zojila pass and Meenmarg on the highway, today vehicles plied from here to Leh and no vehicle was allowed from opposite directions.
But, both way traffic continued to ply from Kargil to Leh.
Meanwhile, light vehicles plied from both sides on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.
But, heavy vehicles plied from Srinagar to Jammu today and no heavy vehicle was allowed from opposite direction. The heavy vehicles were to cross Jawahar tunnel before 10 AM, he added.
Similarly, the 86-km-long Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch, was also through from both sides.
