Shutdown in Kulgam over killing of militants

SRINAGAR, Dec 6: A shutdown was today observed in several areas of Kulgam district Wednesday observed over the killing of a local militant and his two associates.
Local militant Yawar Bashir Mir of Hablish village of the district was killed along with his two associates Furqan Ahmed and Abu Maviya in Bhadragund encounter on Srinagar- Jammu highway on Monday.
Reports said shops and other business establishments remained shut in Kelam, Mir Bazar Qazigund, Pehlu, Devsar and other areas.
Large contingent of police and para-military troopers were deployed to maintain law and order in the town.
Meanwhile, life returned to normalcy in Kulgam main town where according to reports all shops and business establishments remained open while transport normally plied on the roads.
Internet and rail service was restored in south Kashmir today after several days following improvement in the situation.
