'Was not part of protest’

SRINAGAR, Jan 10: Abdul Salam Dar of Khudwani Anantnag today said his son Khalid Ahmad was not part of any protest and was killed in target firing by security forces yesterday.
Dar was killed after clashes broke out in Khadwani Kulgam on Tuesday.
Abdul Salam Dar, his father told media that Khalid was on way to Gvt Degree College Anantnag to submit his form when security forces killed him in a target fire near SKUAST Khudwani.
“My son was a brilliant student. He was not a stone-pelter. Not a single case is registered in any police station against him. He was BSc 6th semester student and had left home to submit his examination form at Degree College Anantnag.
There were clashes going on at Khudwani, when he reached near SKUAST, some security force personnel from a vehicle targeted him and killed him in cold blood,” Dar said.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Mohammad, father of 16-year old militant, Farhan Wani, who was killed in an encounter with security forces at Larnoo-Kokernag yesterday, today appealed youth not to indulge in stone pelting.
Addressing people during the funeral of his son, Ghulam Mohammad said, “I have lost my son and I request budding youth not to resort to stone-pelting.” He requested Indian civil society members to play a role in the resolution of Kashmir issue.
