CM seeks Pak help to end bloodshed in J&K

Reminds it Musharraf’s promise to maintain peace along borders

REASI/TALWARA, Jan 14: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Sunday reminded Pakistan about the promise its former president Parvez Musharraf had made to former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee to maintain peace along the borders and sought its help in ending the bloodshed in the state.
She also appealed to India to give up confrontation with Pakistan, saying it was the people of the state who were suffering due to the animosity between the two nations.
“We have to restart the reconciliation process with Pakistan and India has a bigger role in the process in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mehbooba said, addressing the attestation- cum-passing out parade of 911 police recruits at the subsidiary police training centre in Talwara here.
To evolve peaceful environment and bring versatile development in the state, Chief Minister said time had come to get the people of J&K out from difficulties, uncertain situations and to give them much needed healing and relief. She said there was no other path except reconciliation, dialogue and discourse.
Appreciating the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his inclusive vision on Jammu & Kashmir, the Chief Minister said during his tenure Vajpayee worked to remove challenges confronting J&K and conducted an outreach, resulting in an environment of peace and relaxation among the people. She said it was the need of the time to follow the path once chosen by Vajpayee.
The Chief Minister also reiterated that violence and innocent killings would lead the state only to a cobweb bloodletting and destruction and uncertainty rather than paving the way for any peaceful solution. Chief Minister said fostering cooperation on both sides would not only bring political stability across the region but the stakes of local people in peace would also get enhanced. She said money being utilized for confrontation and devastation be used for positive development on both sides.
On the occasion, DGP S P Vaid also spoke on various welfare measures being taken by the government in strengthening Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Others present on the occasion were IGP S D Singh Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramaswamy G and various other senior officers of police, army and civil administration.
