Landmines explode in Mendhar

MENDHAR, Jan 17: Many landmines exploded along the Line of Control after devastating fire broke out in tehsil Mendhar of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The fire reportedly started from other side of border, which spread wildly close to the fence and shifted on this side of the border in Mendhar sector,” official sources here said.
They said that the fire covered a larger area along the LoC in Mendhar sector, which put army personnel guarding forward posts on alert.
“Due to jungle fire, many mines also exploded while the loud sound of explosions panicked the border dwellers,” they said.
However, no loss of any life of damage to the property was reported in forest inferno.
