Poonch Royals wins the Dhanidar Premier Cricket League 2018

JAMMU, Feb 7: Dhanidar Premier Cricket league organised by Indian Army at Rajouri from Jan 3was culminated with an exciting final match and a glittering closing ceremony held at District Police Lines ground, Rajouri.
Eight teams from seven districts of J&K participated in the tournament. After keenly contested matches at League and Semifinal stages, Poonch Royals and Kings XI Rajouri played the final match.
The event was witnessed by GOC, Romeo Force, Maj Gen Raj Sinha, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Professor Javed Mashart, SSP, Rajouri Yougal Manhas and other dignitaries from Army and Civil Administration of Rajouri district and large number of local population. The event created an environment of festivities in the border town and persons of all age groups turned up to witness the finals in huge numbers.
In the final match that went till the last ball Poonch Royals defeated Kings XI Rajouri by three wickets. Winning the toss Kings XI Rajouri elected to bat and scored 149 runs in 20 overs. In reply Poonch Royals successfully chased the target and scored winning run on the last ball of the match. Aman Deep Singh was the chief architect of Poonch Royal victory.
During the closing ceremony, Military Band of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Center and Pipe Band of 118 Territorial Army mesmerised the gathering with their melodies. The Winning team in addition to the coveted trophy were also awarded Rs 50,000 cash prize whereas the Runners up team received Rs 25,000/-. Amir Wani of Rowdy Ramban Warriors was declared Man of the Series and was awarded individual Medal and cash award of Rs 10,000.
Shahzad Raina of Kings XI Rajouri and Aman Deep Singh of Poonch Royals team were declared best bowler and batsman of the tournament respectively and were awarded individual medals and cash award of Rs 10,000 each. GOC, Romeo Force, said that it was a treat to watch both the teams playing the finals. He complimented each and every player who participated in the tournament and wished them good luck for future. He thanked the civil administration for their whole-hearted support for the successful conduct of Dhanidar Premier Cricket League.
