J&K Football Association felicitates U-19 team
JAMMU, Feb 9: The J&K Football Association today felicitated J&K U-19 team participated in the 52nd National Junior football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy 2017-18 held from January 26 Jan to February 6 at Una (KHAD), Himachal Pradesh.

J&K has deputed a 23 members Team comprises of 19 players and 3 officials (one Physio Aamir Hussain, coach, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, ex Footballer of J&K Bank & Manager Bilal Ahmad Panjabi, Asst. Secretary JKFA) for participation in the Championship. After 3 days trails in which about 150 players participated followed by 20 days coaching at Jammu.

The J&K was drawn in Pool 'D' of the Tier II Championship with Teams from Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Manipur.

J&K had got walkover against Lakshadweep while defeated Daman & Diu and Manipur in its pool.

J&K team finished as winner and played against Chandigarh, the Winner of Pool 'B'.

J&K defeated Chandigarh by one goal scored by Shakir, and with this win it had qualified for finals

of Tier II of the Championship.

In finals, J&K were 2 goals down in just first 15 minutes of the match. Half time score was J&K -0 while Jharkhand-2 After half time breather, the J&K started with full vigour and not only leveled score but took

lead of one goals 3:2. The opponents succeeded to equal the score 3:3 and full time was three goals each. Extra time of 30 minutes ended goalless & match went in to tie Breaker. In tie breaker J&K got eliminated by 2:3 margin.

On return of the team, the Association has today arranged a Felicitation function in honour of the Team

players & Team Officials for achieving this rare feat, in the Game of Football in J&K. The Association has awarded the team players & Team officials with a cash award of Rs. 1.15 Lakhs.
