Cong condemns terror attack
Reflects failure of Centre: Azad
JAMMU, Feb 11: Congress delegates at its district convention on Sunday condemned “the Pak sponsored terrorist attack on the army camp at Sunjwan Jammu going on since yesterday in which several precious lives of jawans and civilians were lost and several others seriously injured.”

They also called upon the government of India and state government to effectively deal with the prevailing situation.

The resolution, presented in the convention by PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, paid “rich tributes to those who were martyred for the nation and also paid for peace to the departed souls.”

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for early recovery of those injured in the attack. We salute the bravery of our jawans who have eliminated three terrorist involved in this attack, so far, at the cost of their lives. We also pay our rich tributes to all those jawans of army, security forces and police and civilians who sacrificed their lives in the various terrorist attacks in the recent past and in the unabated Pak shelling on LoC and IB in the state,” said the resolution.

The resolution also expressed “grave concern over the series of terrorist attacks including over the installations of army and security forces and over the continued/unabated shelling on borders and LoC taking heavy toll of forces and civilian people.”

Earlier two minutes silence was observed in the beginning of the convention to pay “tributes to the martyrs and pray for departed souls.”

Later talking to media, former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said the terror attack on army camp reflected the “failure and weakness” of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.” He suggested that a “policy paralysis” prevailed in the country.

“We do not want to play politics over the attack at a time when terrorists from the neighbouring country are targetting our forces and their families in their homes…But why are army installations are being attacked one after the other which means that the central government has failed,” Azad stated.

He said his party was “saddened” by the terror attack on the army camp at Sunjwan which left five soldiers and a civilian dead.
