Stranded vehicles cleared

RAMBAN, Feb 13: Jammu-Srinagar National Highway after remaining closed for consecutive two days was thrown open for the vehicular traffic on Monday afternoon.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (National Highway) Vishal Manhas while giving the information informed that the standard vehicles of the Highway will be allowed to move for their respective destinations
The Jammu Srinagar Highway was closed on Sunday morning as a precautions later landslides, shooting stones triggered due to heavy rains that lashed in the area Jawahar tunnel to Nowgam sector including Patnitop to Batote sector of the Highway witnessed snow, that made the Highway slippery which compelled the authorities to stop vehicular traffic on this Highway as a precaution.
After improvement in weather, the Highway Authority of India pressed into service their men and machinery for clearing land slides that had triggered at Ramsoo, Pathayal, Digdol and Nashri area of District Ramban.
Manhas said, over 200 vehicles including 55 passenger vehicles stranded at Banihal were allowed to move towards Kashmir after the Qazigund-Banihal stretch was cleared of snow this afternoon.
No vehicle was allowed from either Srinagar or Jammu for the second day today," he said, adding a decision to reopen the road for traffic tomorrow will be taken once the stranded vehicles are cleared.
