Kangan shuts for 2nd day against killing of youth
SRINAGAR, Apr 16: The killing of a youth sparked spontaneous shutdown for the second consecutive day today in Kangan town.

Amir Hamid Lone (22) of Chatergul Kangan, a second year student of degree college Ganderbal who after receiving critical injuries in the clashes with security forces on April 3 succumbed nearly two weeks after battling with life at SKIMS on Sunday.

Clashes had erupted in Kangan on the day against the killing of another youth, Gowhar Ahmad Rather of Jamia market Kangan.

Reports said that shops and other business establishments remained shut while transports also remained off the roads. Government had ordered the closure of all the educational institutions in the district.

Militants open fire in Shopian, SPO, civilian injured
ANANTNAG, Apr 16: A special police officer (SPO) and a civilian were injured after the suspected militants opened fire in Bongam area of southern Shopian town on Monday.
