PAK minor infiltrates to Poonch, detained

MENDHAR, Apr 22: A minor boy from Pakistan-Administered Kashmir (PAK) was arrested, while infiltrating to this side late Saturday night along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
In the meanwhile, Pakistani troops Sunday morning also targetted Indian forward border posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. However no loss was reported so far.
“A patrol party of the army nabbed a boy from PAK near their Panjni nallah forward post when he crossed over and sneaked into the Indian territory on LoC in Balakote sector of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch, ”official sources here said.
They said the boy apprehended was identified as Mohammed Zahid, 14, son of Mohammed Sadiq, resident of Kandi Nakayal, PAK. “Army personnel apprehended him Saturday night when he crossed over to this side and was wandering near their Panjni nallah forward post under suspicious circumstances. After initial investigation, the army handed over him to the Police Station Mendhar this morning. The boy seemed to be mentally unstable. Further questioning is being made,” sources added.
In the meanwhile, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing targetting forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
“The indiscriminate shelling from across the border started in Digwar sector around 7.30 AM, prompting strong and effective retaliation by the Indian army guarding the LoC,” official sources said.
“No casualties have been reported so far,” they added.
There has been spurt in ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir this year, resulting in the death of 31 persons including 16 security personnel so far.
