MUMBAI, Apr 24: Discarded Pakistani wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider has one regret that his birthday comes every year one day before Indian master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar's.
Zulqarnain turned 32 on Monday, whereas Sachin completed 44 years of his age on Tuesday.
"Alas, I was not born one day later. Had I been born on 24th April, I too would have been a legend like Sachin...I too would have earned name and success like him", speaking exclusively from Pakistan, he said.
"It is my wish to come to India one day and celebrate my belated birthday with him. This is because he is not an ordinary man but a legend and down to earth man".
Zulqarnain has played against Sachin and also shared the photograph of the match when he took his catch behind the stump.
"I played against Sachin in one of the matches (in Pakistan) at Gymkhana and grabbed his catch. I also had a short interaction with him in the dressing room. I consider myself to be lucky to have played against Sachin in the match", he added.
Zulqarnain may not have played international match against Sachin but there are 920 players world wide, who have played with / against Sachin Tendulkar during Sachin's 24-years of international cricket. This is a world record, confirms India's renowned statistician Sudhir Vaidya.
Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar has also played with and against India's MSK Prasad and Sri Lanka's Kumar Dharmasena. They were all born on April 24. Dharmasena is an ICC umpire whereas MSK Prasad is BCCI's chief selector.
Sachin Tendulkar is one among few other cricketers, played against two different generations. He played against Australia's Geoff Marsh and his son Shaun Marsh.
