Tourist dies, girl injured in Narbal stone-pelting
SRINAGAR, May 7: A tourist from Tamil Nadu died and a local girl was injured after being hit by stones during street protests at Narbal area in Budgam district.

According to official sources, a tourist, R Thirumani, from Tamil Nadu capital Chennai, was admitted in the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in capital Srinagar after he was was injured and later succumbed to his wounds.

Sources said that the tourist who has been identified as Thirumani 22 of Chennai was severely injured during clashes between agitating youth and government forces at Narbal area.

A local girl Sabreena 18 of Handwara in north Kashmir also sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to the hospital where doctors stated her condition as stable.

The slain tourist according to sources was on way to Srinagar. He had gone to visit ski-resort Gulmarg along with his colleagues.

Thirumani suffered serious head injuries after a stone hit his head. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A senior police official while confirming the incident said that a case FIR number 57 of 2018 has been registered at police station Magam in this regard and investigation taken up.

He said the other tourists who were travelling in the same vehicle were taken back to the hotel.
