CPI (M) urges PM for a political outreach, Cong for taking everyone on board

SRINAGAR, May 9: General secretary of the main opposition, National Conference, Ali Mohammad Sagar, who led his party’s delegation in the all party meeting, said that his party conveyed to the chief minister about the need for the dialogue with the Hurriyat.
Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had convened APM on Wednesday where leaders from all parties discussed the situation in the Valley.
The five hour meeting began at 2.00 PM at SKICC and called for political outreach on Kashmir.
Sagar said NC leaders conveyed to the meeting that centre was “responsible” for the current situation for not implementing the agenda of alliance, “alienation has increased and New Delhi has turned a blind eye.” Chief Minister is asking centre to stop bloodshed, then who is running the state?” he asked.
He claimed that some vested interests had made it “Jammu versus Kashmir and Hindus versus Muslims” issue.
He said they have asked to the government to convene a three-day assembly session to discuss the situation in the Valley.
CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami said that the participants wanted a political process to be started to bring situation to normalcy. “We discussed to urge prime minister for a political outreach on Kashmir,” he said.
Congress state president, G A Mir claimed that chief minister was “helpless” before the Centre. “All parties want unilateral ceasefire during the Ramzan month and Amarnath Yatra period,” he said, and asked the government to take everyone on board. He was accompanied by party senior leaders Taj Mohiuddin, G N Monga, and Usman Majeed.
MLA Langate, Er Rashid said he told the meeting that there should be unilateral ceasefire for the next three months. “If centre is not listening then all parties should take a decision not to contest elections. Ask New Delhi for right to self determination,” he said, adding that mainstream was in “shambles”.
