Sonia Gandhi should save democracy by sacrificing dynastic politics
Kashmir Times. Dated: 5/11/2018 12:21:13 AM
Dear Editor,
Congress President Rahul Gandhi publicly expressing dream-desire to become Prime Minister may further worsen vote-count for oldest national party Congress. It is a well-known fact that Congress can fight as an alternative only if some acceptable and capable leader rather than Rahul Gandhi is given command to lead the party. Even if Sonia Gandhi wishes to crown her only son as head of her political industry, then Rahul Gandhi can remain as symbolic crown-head of the party keeping vigil only on finances (which is of prime-most importance for any political industry), and some acceptable leader may be made working head of the party also to be named as party-nominee for Prime Minister in case Congress gets a chance to crown some of its leader as future Prime Minister.
Such a big sacrifice by Sonia Gandhi to do away with dynastic politics will gift India an ideal two-party democratic system where smaller parties may be either merging with two biggest parties namely BJP and Congress or may become junior allies to these two parties in case of alliance-government. Otherwise Congress may even lose its second-ranking in Indian politics after BJP.
