Rains, windstorm in Kashmir; Teenager dies in lightening

SRINAGAR, May 12: A teenager was killed in lightening in Anantnag district, while rains and windstorm occurred in Kashmir today.
Reports said that 17-year-old youth from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district died after lightening struck him near his house.
The youth identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Wali Khan, resident of Brari Anganwari village of Hapt Khud in Uttersoo area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district died after lightening struck him near his house.
Two persons who were standing near the deceased escaped unhurt but fell unconscious after the incident, witnesses said.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Shangus, Zahid Gani confirmed the death of a boy due to light lightening and said the body has been handed over to his parents.
Bringing the temperature down, the intermittent rains lashed Valley on Saturday evening while as the two residential houses were damaged in a windstorm that hit several areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials in the meteorological (MeT) department said that the rains accompanied by winds would continue over the state in next three or four days, saying that the weather would improve after four days across the state.
Meanwhile, two houses were damaged due to heavy windstorm in Trikanjan area in Baramulla district.
