Youths should channelize their energy towards sports: Former MLC

KATHUA, May 13: Former MLC Subash Gupta exhorted upon the youth to come forward and channelize their energy towards sports activities, urged them to refrain from smoking, drugs, and liquor.
He also called upon the Government departments and other agencies to encourage the youth in sports and other co-curricular activities. He also urged upon the youth to participate in the games and sports to remain fit and fine as sound mind resides in a sound body.
Subash Gupta, who was chief guest on the occasion, said these words during the final match of Kaniyaha, Mintu, and Manjeet Memorial Cricket Tournament organised by Hiranagar Cricket Club.
As part of the match proceedings the final match was played between Manjeet Cricket Club Channi and Bishu-11 Hiranagar. Manjeet Cricket Club Channi after winning the toss decided to bat first and team scored 134 in 20-overs.
In return, players of Bishu-11 failed to chase the target and lost the match by 24 runs. Rahul who scored 44 runs and took one wicket was declared as Man of Match whereas; Vijay Soodan was declared as Man of Series. Varun Gupta and Amit Sharma officiated the matches.
Chief Guest Subash Gupta honored the winners with trophy and cash price of Rs 30,000 and runner up with trophy and cash price of Rs 15,000.
On the occasion Subash Gupta lauded the efforts of the organizers especially Manav Manhas, Vishavjeet, Kuldeep Singh, Vishal Sharma, and Sachin Manhas and said that he would also make every possible effort to promote sports.
