Missing youth's family seeks govt intervention

SRINAGAR, June 6: A family from Nowshehra area on the outskirts of Srinagar city today made fervent appeal to the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Director General of Police to help them tracing their missing son.
The distressed family said that their son Ubaidullah Lone 26 who works as a daily wager at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Poonch is missing ever since he left his home for duties last month.
“He was at home for the last two months and on May 20 left for Poonch to resume his duties back. He works as a daily wager at Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University; we were in contact with Ubaidullah till 23rd of May,” said the missing youth’s uncle.
He further said that Ubaidullah’s parents were perplexed after his cell phone went off next day.
“Next day his friend Sarfaraz Ahmad who also works at the varsity as orderly received call on Ubaidulla’s phone and informed us that he left home for market but didn’t return. This was a virtual shocker for the whole family,” he added.
He said the family then approached police station Poonch and filed a missing report in this regard.
The uncle of the missing youth said they met Director General of Police and other higher-ups to seek the whereabouts of Ubaidullah but to no avail. He however clarified that this is purely a missing case and linking it with militancy won’t make any sense.
When contacted, SDPO Poonch, Nawaz Mohammad said police has got some vital leads in this regard where as the parents of the missing youth have also been called.
“Investigations are on and we have got some important leads, we have called his parents here as well,” said the official adding that prime facie it appears case of drug addiction.
