Army jawan commits suicide in Poonch

POONCH, Jun 11: An army jawan Monday afternoon committed suicide at a forward border outpost of his regiment based in Dungas area of Poonch district, police said.
Official sources said a jawan identified as Ranjot Singh (belt Number 21004188H) of 278 field regiment killed himself at Post No 3, CMP line of 278 Field Regiment using his own service weapon.
“After hearing sound of gunshot, other jawans immediately rushed to him and shifted him to District Hospital Poonch where doctors declared him brought dead. The exact reason of taking such hard step was not yet known but army authorities have constituted a committee to investigate the case,” sources said.
However, police registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
Sources in army are attributing family problem as the reason behind this extreme step taken by the jawan adding that outcome of enquiry report would clear the exact reason.
