Cop shot at, critically injured in Shopian
SRINAGAR, Jun 13: A police constable was critically injured after he was fired at by unknown gunmen in Katho Hallan village of Kellar in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday night.
Quoting official sources, a news agency said that the gunmen fired upon Rayees Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Hassan near his home at Katho Hallan village.
Lone suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar in critical condition.
“Lone was shot at by the militants after they barged inside their home. He was working as a constable,” he said SSP Shopian, Shailendra Mishra, according to the report.
Meanwhile, government forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
Militants lobbed a grenade at Lassipora police station which exploded with a big bang. However, no damage was done. The cops fired several rounds in air, officials said.
