SRINAGAR, Jul 3: Amid reports that BJP is trying to form government with disgruntled leaders of PDP and National Conference, the BJP national vice president Avinesh Rai Khanna Tuesday said that no leader of any political party has approached the BJP so far.
“No leader of any political party has approached us so far for the support in government formation,” Khanna told Kashmir News Service (KNS) over phone from New Delhi.
However, the BJP vice president said that if anybody from any political party approaches BJP, then the party will take a decision.
Khanna further said that BJP was satisfied with the Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir. “When somebody will approach us we will think over it,” he added.
Three PDP MLAs including prominent Shia leader and former minister Imran Raza Ansari, openly revolted against the party leadership charging former chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti with running “family rule” in the party and failing to deliver despite whole-hearted support from the BJP government at the Centre.
Besides Imran Ansari, who is PDP’s MLA from Pattan, Baramulla, his uncle Abid Ansari, MLA Zadibal in Srinagar district and Mohammad Abbas, MLA Tangmarg in Baramulla district, also revolted against the party leadership saying they had earlier also warned the party leadership to refrain from promoting a coterie and family rule but they paid no heed .
Meanwhile, former deputy chief minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday said that there was no question of forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
“As of now the party is not going to forge any alliance to form the next dispensation in the State as we were in the government and left it recently,” he told Kashmir News Service (KNS).
He also said at present, the Valley’s security situation is not favourable for the government formation.
Asked about the recent statements of PDP MLA’s, Gupta said that the PDP leaders might have some agenda to utter against party’s stand.
Referring to a query about Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh’s visit to the Valley on Wednesday, former deputy chief minister said his visit to Kashmir has no connection with the government formation as he will only review the security situation here.
Asked about Ram Madhav’s recent visit to Kashmir, Gupta said that Madhav’s recent visit was confined to party affairs.
