Mercedes and Milk can’t be taxed at same rate
ActIT Jammu, Projects, Java,, C# Training Jammu
Dear Editor,

Our Honourable Prime Minister says that “Mercedes and Milk can’t be taxed at same rate” The inflation is too high prices of essential commodities and food items is soaring at peak -aam aadmi cannot meet both ends -for them necessities are like travelling in a Mercedes only. All necessities and food items must be exempted from GST including Milk etc.

In fact, the real purpose of GST will be achieved only when all the taxes like Vat, Excise etc.-Central or State are abolished which are merged into one GST Act. Few of States are not interested in abolishing all these Acts which are merged into GST like VAT -as States Revenue from these Act is more than a sizeable amount. The Centre must compensate them and abolish all the Acts in toto all over India which are merged under GST for Indian economy to grow at fastest rate in the world and there should be only a single GST rate for all the commodities including petrol diesel etc. otherwise the motive of simplification of GST will not be achieved. And there should be statutory provision that once a commodity is taxed under GST, no other tax / Cess etc. will be levied for that commodity. This is to avoid future possibility of multiple taxes on a single commodity.
