‘Youth Kashmir Primer League’ inaugurated at Langate

JAMMU, Jul 10: To imbibe a competitive spirit amongst the youth of the valley, a ‘Youth Kashmir Primer League’ today inaugurated by Janta Dal (United) JD (U) State President G M Shaheen which was organized JD (U) to boost the spirits of youngsters wherein around 61 cricket teams across the Kupwara constituency were participated in the League with great zeal and enthusiasm in presence prominent citizen and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
G M Shaheen while addressing the media said, “JD (U) has started this tournament with an aim to boost the spirits of youth who are still deprived of such facilities in Kashmir valley presently as the budding cricketers of Jammu and Kashmir State need to enhance their performance in domestic cricket to be selected for the Indian team. I found that the state has abundance of raw talent, but the players need good experience.”
Citing an example of cricketer Parvez Rasool of Kashmir valley who was selected in the Indian team after his good performance in this field, Shaheen said, “It shows that the players from Jammu and Kashmir are selected but the players need to refine their performance, instead of getting caught in the negativity.”
“The Jammu and Kashmir state has not developed the required infrastructure for cricket and there is a need of three to four grounds. Turf pitches at district level are also a requisite these days because all international, national and IPL matches are played on turfs,” he maintained.
Earlier, a huge gathering including civil dignitaries, police officials, village Sarpanchs, Nambardars and local youth witnessed the today’s cricket match wherein the winner and runners up team were rewarded with trophies and medals.
