Give proof of being informer, father asks gunmen
Militants offer slain youth gun salute
ANANTNAG, Aug 9: Thousands of people on Thursday participated in the funeral prayers of the youth who was abducted and tortured to death by unidentified gunmen.

The father of the slain youth, however, asked the militants to prove his wrong-doing if they killed him.

Two youth Arif Ahmad Sofi of Khudwani and Mehraj Ahmad Dar of Mishipora Kulgam were abducted by some unidentified gunmen on Tuesday evening.

Both the youth were left in an unconscious state by the abductors near Rakhi Moman village Wednesday evening. After being spotted, both were taken to nearby healthcare facility where from doctors referred them to Srinagar hospital on the basis of severity of torture on their bodies.

One of them, Arif Ahmad Sofi, succumbed to injuries in the hospital late last night. Amid grief and mourning, local sources said, the slain youth was laid to rest this morning. They said that people since early morning rushed to the residence of the slain to participate in his last rites.

Around five thousand people, local sources said, attended the funeral prayers of the slain youth.

Father of the slain youth, Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, according to local sources, addressed the funeral gathering of his son and asked the militants that if they killed his son then prove his involvement in any wrong doing.

"I want to ask the militants if they killed my son then give me the proof that he was an informer. And if they prove his involvement with a solid proof I will not repent the killing of my son," slain youths father, according local sources told the funeral gathering.

Late in the evening, reports said that a group of militants appeared at the residence of the slain youth and offered gun salute in his honour.

A video of the militants appearance and gun salute soon went viral on social media.

In the video a group of militants can be seen offering gun salute and the youth around raising slogans like 'Zinda hai Arif Zinda hai'.
