SRINAGAR, Sep 11: BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav today said linking article 35 A with panchayat and urban local bodies elections for boycotting the polls is an excuse by National Conference (NC) and PDP.
He was talking to media persons after a party meeting here. Madhav asked why article 35 A was not an issue when both NC and PDP whole heartedly took part in Kargil elections.
“At that time, neither NC nor PDP was bothered about article 35 A. Both these parties are against decentralisation of powers. They want control of only two political families on the politics and development and are against taking powers to people at grass root level,” Madhav said.
Regarding militant threat for the polls, he alleged that they have always tried to disrupt the process of development in the state.
He added that BJP will take part in panchayat and local bodies polls as “ we are for empowering the people,”
To a question regarding formation of the government in the state, Madhav said, “At this stage BJP is not interested in government formation and our all focus is on panchayat and urban local bodies polls. But if any other party wants to form the government, we cannot stop it from doing so.”
