Shaheen, Sainik Colony Clubs wins respective matches

JAMMU, Oct 9: Chhatra Shaheed Memorial Football Tournament, 2018 organized by Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) under the aegis of JKFA, Jammu and sponsored by J&K Bank was inaugurated here today .
The opening match was played between Param FC versus All Star. The match was drawn with score of 1-1 and during the tie-breaker Param FC won the match with 4-2 score.
Pushvinder Singh during his welcomed address said that JJSF is thankful to the administration of GGM Science College, team of JKFA, team of SKUAST, team of JJSF and especially the team of J&K Bank led by Ravi Sharma PRO to Chairman, J&K Bank who worked day and night to make the opening ceremony of the tournament a grant success and on the same time he lambasted the J&K Sports Council team of Jammu for totally turning deaf ears and did not cooperate at all. He said that Sports Council is supposed to promote and uplift the sports activities but unfortunately they are least bothered about the same.
Ch. Lal Singh applauded the initiative taken by JJSF and said that the ongoing tournament is the best tribute to the students martyrs of 1966 namely Subash Chander, Brij Mohan, Gulshan Handa and S. Gurcharan Singh who laid down their lives while fighting against the shifting of SKUAST from Jammu to Kashmir (Sopore).
He said that Sports Council should support and promote such type of programs which are connected to the sports activities. He said that we should take inspiration from the sacrifice of these martyrs and shall follow the path shown by them. He further said that it is the sacrifice of these great martyrs due to which the people of Jammu could get Govt. Medical College for Jammu, SKUAST-J, SMVDU and many more. He said that this is the right time for Dogras to get united and be ready to fight a decisive struggle to get the Dogra Pride back.
It is pertinent to mention here that the said tournament is played on Knock-out basis and 20 registered clubs are participating in the tournament. Today, two matches were played, first match was played between Param FC and All Star which was won by Param FC during tie-breaker by 4-2. During this match Aniket Jasrotia was judged player of the match who scored 2 goals, first during the first half and another during the tie-breaker.
The second match was played between Sainik Colony and NGR during which Mr. Rajinder Jamwal (Advocate and Ex. President JJSF) was the Chief Guest and the said match was won by Sainik Colony by 4-1. During this match Aryaveer was adjudged as player of the match who scored 2 goals, first in 16th min and 2nd in 35th min.
The referees who officiated the first match were Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Honey Mehra and Amit Kumar and the referees who officiated the second match were Koushal, Dheeraj Meenia, Dil Bahadur and Rahul Sharma.
