Police officer among 3 injured in Pattan

SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Suspected militants hurled a grenade on a security naka party in Pattan town today.
Police said grenade exploded with a bang resulting in the injuries of three persons including a top police officer.
Injured were rushed to SDH Pattan where from they were shifted to army hospital Wanigam Pattan.
Injured were identified as, Zafar Mehdi DySp Operation Pattan, Shabir Ahmad SPO, Ashiq Ahmed SPO, Syed Jahangir, CRPF SI Barman and Muhammad Asif SPO.
Reports said that two among the injured cops were rushed to Srinagar based Army hospital for specialized treatment.
“The grenade was lobbed at Naka Party near Baba Teng. The militant who threw the grenade tried to flee from the spot was chased and arrested. He was identified as Faizan Majeed Bhat of Naibug Tral who was recruited into militant ranks recently. He along with other militant Showkat Ahmed Bhat of Awantipora, who managed to escape from spot had joined Tehreek-ul-Mujhadeen recently,” said a police official.
