Barring Gurez, all roads near LoC reopened

SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Barring Razdan Top, all passes and tops, connecting remote areas, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), were reopened today for traffic in north Kashmir after remaining closed for four days due to heavy snowfall.
Phirkiyan, Sadhna and Razdan passes, besides Z-Gali which connects many far-flung and remote villages, including those near the LoC to district headquarters Kupwara, reopened for traffic after remaining closed due to accumulation of heavy snow and avalanche threat for four days.
“Traffic was allowed on Kupwara-Keran road after receiving green signal from the traffic police and other concerned officials on Tuesday morning,” a police control room (PCR) official told reporters over phone from Kupwara.
Traffic was also plying normally on Kupwara-Tanghdar and Kupwara-Karnah roads, he further said. However, Razdan top, connecting Gurez sector with district headquarters Bandipora, remained closed in north Kashmir due to accumulation of snow. Snow clearance operation was going on war footing on Razdan top.
