Pellet injury to eye of baby girl; Financial assistance to family from govt

SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Deputy Commissioner Shopian Dr Owais Ahmed today provided a financial assistance of Rs one lakh to the family of 20-month old girl Hiba Nisar who suffered an injury in her right eye after government forces fired pellets on Sunday.
According to the district administration Shopian, the girl child’s eye got accidentally injured in a pellet firing incident.
DC assured Hiba’s parents that government would provide the baby girl with all kind of support possible for her early recovery.
The security forces fired pellets during clashes with protestors at Batagund in Kapran after the killing of six militants in an encounter.
Hiba was in the arms of her mother when she was coming out of their house where a tear gas shell had landed. As they came out of the main gate of their house the security men fired pellets and a pellet hit the right eye of Hiba, the family said.
