SRINAGAR, Dec 4: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today denied having any intentions to form pre-poll alliance with National Conference (NC) ahead of forthcoming Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We don’t intend to enter into any pre-poll alliance with any party, nor do I have any information about it,” PDP Vice-President, Abdul Rehman Veeri told reporters on the sidelines of party meeting at Gupkar Road here.
When asked whether today’s meeting was aimed at discussing modalities vis-à-vis pre-poll alliance between NC and PDP, he said the meeting which was chaired by PDP President was held to discuss present political situation of the state and issues confronting people on daily basis.
Regarding Muzzafar Hussain Beig who hinted at joining Sajjad Gani Lone’s Peoples Conference in a presser recently, Veeri said he is party senior member with whom PDP President met and discussed things in detail.
“Muzaffar Hussain Beig is a senior party leader and founder member; he is very much intact in the party and hasn’t yet resigned. Party President met him and discussed things in detail,” said PDP leader.
Replying to a query as to what makes Mehbooba Mufti to meet Beig when he spewed venom against her and party during press conference, he said “Meetings do happen, then what’s wrong if the PDP President met him, Beig is a senior party leader as I already said”
He also said that present political situation of the state and the issues confronting people like power, water, and electricity were thoroughly discussed in the meeting.
